Patent Attorneys
As well as the Basic Litigation Skills Course, we offer courses for patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys in advocacy, Higher Rights of Audience, presentation skills and other dispute resolution subjects.
Overview
We have been authorised by IPReg since 2014 to deliver the Basic Litigation Skills Course and Assessment for patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys. Successful completion of the assessment leads to the award of the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate.
In May 2021 IPReg authorised us to deliver training and assessment in Higher Courts advocacy, leading to the Higher Courts Advocacy Certificate.
We work with many of the top 20 UK patent firms, delivering regular in-house courses. We also regularly run public courses for delegates across the intellectual property profession.
We have provided advocacy and presentation skills training to several of the leading patent firms, to all levels of fee earner including partners.
For attorneys wishing to expand their knowledge of dispute resolution we can offer courses in specific areas such as negotiation, mediation and injunctive relief.

"Chris Taylor is an excellent teacher.
The course content is very relevant and practical. The course is divided between lectures and group exercises, which enabled a lot of material to be covered while holding the interest and attention of the participants.
The case studies were very interesting, and the advocacy training was both enjoyable and useful.
This is an excellent course and I would highly recommend it."

"We worked with CPD Training for the first time recently to deliver an in-house basic litigation skills course. CPD were very helpful in suggesting ways we might run the course in-house so our busy attorneys would get the most from attending and at the same time enjoy the learning. All the joining instructions and course information was sent out by CPD in advance, which was handled very efficiently.
Chris Taylor, who delivered the training was extremely professional, with attendees reporting his style to be relaxed, very clear and informative with a really good balance of group discussion, presentation and written work to meet all the differing learning styles.
Some of the course places were filled by external candidates; this was a first for us, and it worked extremely well with the mix of participants bringing an added dimension to the group discussions.
CPD exceeded our expectations and we look forward to working with Chris again in the Autumn."
